Information: Joann has a big heart for children... and their moms! She believes that helping moms go from being a good parent to being a great parent is the combination of encouragement, Biblical insight, and prayer. As the mother of three and "birthing" mom's ministries in three churches, she lives this out in her life. She has also taught classes on parenting, marriage preparation, and marriage enrichment too.

Joann studied elementary education at Concordia University, Chicago. After teaching and tutoring, she became a full-time mom. The Shockeys have three daughters: Jenna in high school, Emma studying accounting at Concordia University, Irvine, CA, and Hannah who is studying education at Concordia University, Wisconsin.

After working in retail crafts, Christian gifts, and more recently for Hyatt Hotels, Joann has returned to caring for children full-time, catching the excitement as the St. Peter's Early Childhood Education Center expanded a few years ago. You can meet Joann holding babies in our infant room where she serves as the infant lead teacher.

Joann also enjoys working with home decor and is a home consultant for Longaberger, a company known for baskets, pottery, and a variety of organizational tools to make homes beautiful.

Joann is married to Mark, the pastor of St. Peter's. While through the years, she joked she would would "never" work for him, somehow the staff was very convincing that this was the place where the Lord could best use her. Joann's favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."
